As we bid farewell to David Joel, a valued tutor and mentor who has been an integral part of the GTA University Centre’s journey for the past 12 years, we are filled with both gratitude and admiration for his unwavering dedication and contributions.
David has been a cornerstone in delivering the prestigious Institute of Directors (IoD) Diploma in Company Direction programme in Guernsey. Delivering the Leadership module and the Diploma alongside another tutor, David extended his expertise to help shape the knowledge and skills of delegates. His impactful work also included contributions to the IoD Leadership and Finance Certificate programmes, influencing countless individuals and organisations with his insight and passion.
Reflecting on his time with us, David shared:
"It is with great sadness that I delivered my final IoD Diploma in Company Direction programme for The GTA in Guernsey on 10th January. Over the years, I have had the honour of working with the GTA through the IoD on the Diploma in Company Direction, as well as the Leadership and Finance Certificate programmes. It has been an incredibly rewarding experience, and I am so grateful for the opportunity to have been part of this journey."
David also expressed heartfelt gratitude to our team members who ensured seamless course delivery, including Jo Robert and Bethan Batiste from our Service Delivery team, Head of Programmes Julie Eaton, Head of Business Development and Operations Michelle Morley, and our CEO, Simon le Tocq.
Commenting on David’s significant contributions, Simon le Tocq said:
"Without doubt, one of the keys to the continued success of the IoD Company Direction Programme has been the outstanding quality of its tutors, and Dave Joel is one of the best! Dave has been teaching on the programme locally for more than a decade now, and I have no doubt that his contribution to director knowledge in Guernsey will have been significant indeed.
"I have had the pleasure of not only working with Dave and the IoD to help bring the Company Direction Programme to many hundreds of Guernsey directors in the past 12 years, but I have also been fortunate to have been taught by him and to have benefited from his wisdom. His teaching offered a perfect mix of sound theoretical knowledge backed up with real-world examples from his own experience, all the time keeping an eye on the future and what was coming down the track. Thank you, Dave – we are very grateful for all you have done for director training locally."

His legacy will undoubtedly continue to resonate through the accomplishments of the delegates he taught.
We are immensely grateful for David’s commitment, expertise, and the personal warmth he brought to every interaction. As he embarks on his well-earned retirement, we wish him nothing but happiness and success in this new chapter of his life.
