Course Overview

GIIA introduced an ESG Framework for insurers in 2021, this course is designed to provide a practical overview of the Framework, it’s application and purpose and to include details of upcoming enhancements.

Course Benefits

Attendees will hear about the Framework available and will be able to utilise it for international insurers domiciled in Guernsey.

Course Tutors

  • John Rowson

    John Rowson is Chairman of the Guernsey International Insurance Association's (GIIA) ESG committee, which he was instrumental in forming. The Committee focuses on supporting GIIA members on their journey to improved sustainability and diversity. It also looks to provide education and training to the local industry and wider a field through various industry events.
    He is also a member of the GIIA Market Development and Reinsurance & ILS committees, which focus on creating a leading domicile for (re)insurance. He is a Chartered Insurer and ACII and has served the institute in numerous roles.

  • Rollo de Sausmarez

    Rollo de Sausmarez is Co-lead of The Chamber Of Commerce’s Sustainable Business Initiative, and leads the Sustainability Advisory arm of UN1TY.gg. He has Net-Zero and Sustainable Finance qualifications from the University of Cambridge and is certified Carbon Literate.

    UN1TY also runs the Channel Islands only sustainability course, officially accredited by the internationally recognised Carbon Literacy Project.
    Rollo has worked with a wide range of businesses to measure and manage their emissions develop Net-Zero strategy and provide advice on their business strategy through the lens of sustainability.

    Rollo and UN1TY were recently appointed the official validator of GIIA’s ESG framework.

  • Adele Gale

    Adele Gale is Chairman of the Guernsey International Insurance Association and a director of Robus insurance managers in Guernsey.
    Adele is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants with more than 13 years’ experience in insurance management. She was instrumental in the set up of Guernsey’s first rated catastrophe reinsurer and its Chief Risk Officer. Adele has set up and managed hundreds of collateralised reinsurance cells during her career and sat as a director on a number of innovative and bespoke reinsurance structures.
    Adele co-authored the first domicile ESG Framework for insurers and has led ESG initiatives at Robus transforming the business to be more sustainable.
