What We Do
Start your journey today
We strive to inspire and educate so that people and industry can build a brighter future for themselves and our islands.
The GTA is a unique organisation which exists to ensure a highly skilled and capable workforce for the Bailiwick of Guernsey by facilitating learning and development and promoting lifelong learning. Over the course of more than two decades the organisation has helped thousands of islanders gain professional and higher education qualifications and helped thousands more with CPD and personal development.
We achieve this by working with individuals and organisations across all sectors of local industry to understand what training and support is needed and then making this available without you needing to leave Guernsey.
The GTA University Centre is very proud to be a University Centre of Bournemouth University offering a number of on-island degree programmes with Bournemouth as well as other university partners.

Our History
- 1996
Since we opened our doors 25 years ago, thousands of delegates have advanced their professional and personal development through the GTA University Centre.
We launched back in November 1996, the result of a combined effort between the Guernsey Financial Services Commission and the States of Guernsey to invest in the Bailiwick’s most valuable asset – its workforce.
- 2003
By 2003, we had rebranded as the Guernsey Training Agency and expanded our remit to include IT and retail. That same year, we achieved our Investors in People accreditation.
- 2006
In 2006, Bournemouth University awarded the GTA University Centre status enabling the GTA to deliver BU degree programmes in Guernsey. Shortly after that, we developed new lecture rooms and training suites at St Peter Port House, which has also been our administrative home since 2013.
- 2020
We became part of The Guernsey Institute along with the Guernsey College of Further Education and Institute of Health and Social Care Studies.
We're proud of all we've achieved so far and excited to continue helping build a bright future for Guernsey.
