Length

1-hour session (08:30-09:30)

Course Overview

With Guernsey's new Discrimination Ordinance now firmly in place, Guernsey boards should be very familiar with what is expected of their business from a strict discrimination perspective. The Ordinance is, however, only the 'stick' with this session focusing on the 'carrot' from a boardroom perspective, considering the 'why's' and the 'how's' of creating a workplace culture that lives and breathes equality, diversity and inclusion.

This session will touch on the Discrimination Ordinance (focusing on the most relevant obligations affecting boards and directors) but will then do a deep dive into what equality, diversity and inclusion actually means and why it matters both at board level and within a business. All three terms mean very different things and there is now little debate that a focus on diversity without also a focus on inclusion, and equality (not equity) will result in sub-optimal strategy, governance, talent attraction and retention and performance, both collectively as a business and individually.

Registration is from 08:15 when refreshments and a light breakfast will be available.

Course Benefits

In attending this session you will benefit from the knowledge of a well-respected speaker and will have the opportunity to ask questions in a Q&A session after the presentation.
