THE nature and value of spirituality in the 21st century will be discussed at the next RSA live streaming event to be hosted by the GTA University Centre.
The GTA has introduced a regular lecture series streamed live from the London based Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce (RSA) to a Guernsey audience. The previous two lectures on what is news and on the banking crisis were well attended.
The value of a live streaming lectures is that it enables a local audience to hear from eminent international speakers on a range of diverse topics and to be able to participate in the debate generated. What makes it unique is that we are able to listen to the lectue from London and then look at the subject in more detail from a Guernsey perspective,’ said the GTA’s Chris Edwards.
The forthcoming lecture is called What Happened to The Soul? and will be held at the GTA University Centre on 31stMarch from 6pm until 7.15pm. Psychiatrist Iain McGilchrist, who is the author of The Master and his Emissary: The Divided Brain and the Making of the Western World, will consider the contemporary status of the soul. He will look at whether care of the soul is a remnant of superstitious and uneducated ideas that science has rendered redundant.
The local discussion, which will immediately follow the live stream lecture, will be led by Cato Johansen of Johansen Executive Coaching. Mr Johansen is a mentor and coach as well as a leadership consultant at INSEAD, Europe’s leading business school and he has a passion for exploring consciousness and the soul and realising personal and organisational potential.
