At GTA University Centre, we believe in the power of education, opportunity, and community. That’s why we’re incredibly proud to support Only Fools and Donkeys (OF&D) as our chosen charity for 2025. This brilliant Guernsey-based charity isn’t just about raising money—it’s about changing lives in the most practical and meaningful ways.
What Only Fools and Donkeys Does
Since its founding in 2010, OF&D has dedicated itself to supporting local charities and projects that work with children, young people, and adults with physical disabilities and learning difficulties. From funding essential equipment to making everyday life easier for those in need, OF&D is committed to making a tangible impact.
One of the most exciting aspects of the charity’s work is its legendary fundraising bike rides in France. These events have significantly increased the funds available, allowing them to widen their support and reach even more deserving cause.
Big Efforts, Big Results
The Mule Aquitaine ride in 2024 raised an incredible £60,000—far exceeding expectations. This money is already being put to good use, funding projects over the next two years until the next ride in June 2026.
But what’s truly special about OF&D is their attention to the “small but significant” things. They’re more than happy to take on the less glamorous (but vital) tasks—like supplying shelves, maintaining bikes, or purchasing helmets. These everyday essentials can make a world of difference to local charities that often struggle to fund them.
And then there are the “big ticket” items. In 2024, OF&D helped fund two adapted bikes for Wheels for You, an incredible initiative that enables people who are unable to ride standard bikes to experience the joy of cycling. It’s initiatives like this that demonstrate the heart and purpose behind what they do.
Why This Matters
At GTA, we know that learning and development come in many forms. Whether it’s through education, skills training, or simply enabling access to opportunities, we’re passionate about empowering people. OF&D embodies this same spirit—breaking down barriers, fostering inclusion, and making sure that everyone, regardless of ability, has the chance to experience something wonderful.
We encourage our community—delegates, tutors, businesses, and individuals—to get involved where they can.
