Thirteen UK and Channel Island Industry Specialists took to the stage last month to update representatives of the local fiduciary industry on a wide variety of topics at the annual STEP Guernsey Conference. Key areas included UK tax update for Guernsey Trustees, requests for beneficial ownership and non-compliance, cryptocurrencies (panel debate) and a roundup of recent Guernsey trust cases.
Local professionals in attendance enhanced their overall knowledge and understanding of these important industry issues and obtained 7 CPD points for their personal development.
Keynote speaker Tony Langham from Lansons, addressed the subject of ‘how does the offshore world deal with a crisis reputation’. Richard Field from Appleby addressed another hot topic ‘GDPR’ and also ran some polls on sli.do throughout his session, here are the results – EU GDPR poll
The speaker line-up also included Nigel Race who gave an update on STEP Worldwide’s latest activities and kindly presented the prestigious student awards.
STEP Guernsey and Gold sponsor Carey Olsen were delighted with the turnout, with close to 200 delegates attending the conference this year. Other sponsors Smith & Williamson, Microgen Financial Systems and the GTA University Centre also made a valuable contribution to the event.
Following this year’s successful conference, we chose one delegate at random from those who completed the evaluation feedback form and we would like to announce that the lucky winner of a bottle of champagne was Sandra Sewell-Jones from Butterfield Group (photo top left, Michelle Morley – GTA presenting Sandra Sewell-Jones with her prize).
