DEMOGRAPHICS and megatrends, FATCA and the business impact of transparency are amongst the topics due for discussion at next month’s STEP Guernsey conference.
The annual event, which is open to members and non-members, is an opportunity for delegates to learn from well-regarded and very experienced industry speakers.
‘The Guernsey branch of STEP has more than 700 members from the island’s fiduciary sector as well as the related industries of accountancy, law, banking, pension management and fund administration. The branch is committed to continual professional development and the annual conference is a popular opportunity to further knowledge and network with like-minded individuals,’ said chair Paul Hodgson.
‘The industry landscape is changing constantly with increased regulation, scrutiny and competition. Guernsey is faring well but it’s important that our members keep up to date and fully appreciate the challenges and the opportunities.’
‘We have an excellent panel of speakers for this year’s event and I have no doubt that the STEP Guernsey annual conference will be well attended.’
The full day conference, which takes place on Thursday 26th June at Beau Sejour, is being sponsored by Carey Olsen and organised by the GTA University Centre. The events programme includes local and off-island speakers who will cover a wide range of topics.

Local speakers include Chris Edwards from Mourant Ozannes who will look at the exchange of information with foreign tax authorities, Debbie Payne from PwC on FATCA and the common reporting standard and Dr Andy Sloan on the economic and business impact of transparency. Co –chairman of the conference, Alison MacKrill, said the day should prove to be informative for delegates.
‘There are some interesting and very relevant topics being discussed and I am sure that every speaker will have information and insight that will prove valuable to the delegates.’
Russell Clark from conference sponsors, Carey Olsen, added, ‘STEP is one of the most highly regarded professional bodies and has thousands of members across the world and so we are pleased that Carey Olsen has, once again, the opportunity to support the Guernsey branch’s annual conference as the main sponsor.’
