We’ve all seen the headlines. “AI is coming for your job.” “The robots are taking over.”

But here’s the truth: AI won’t take your job. Someone who knows how to use it just might.

That small difference — learning to work with AI rather than ignoring it — could make all the difference in a place like Guernsey.

As someone who has spent nearly a decade in fund administration, I’ve seen high-performing professionals stretched — not because they lack skill or work ethic, but because the pace of change keeps accelerating. We’re asked to do more with less time, as client demands rise and resources remain limited. The tools we rely on often don’t keep up.

That’s where AI is shifting the ground under our feet.

We’re no longer just talking about automation for low-level admin tasks. Now we have tools that can summarise complex regulations, structure board minutes, benchmark competitors, or even draft investor updates. And they don’t require a computer science degree — just some context, the right mindset, and a willingness to try.

So, what does that mean for professionals in Guernsey?

It means career resilience isn’t just about getting better at your current role — it’s about learning how to work smarter with AI. The question is no longer “Will AI take my job?” It’s “How do I make sure I benefit from it?”

That’s why I’m partnering with the GTA to offer two practical, hands-on courses designed for busy professionals — people who don’t want to be left behind and don’t have time for jargon or theoretical fluff.

The first, “How to Protect Your Career So AI Can’t Replace You,” is for professionals across sectors — finance, law, HR, marketing, or the public sector — who want to strengthen their value and stay one step ahead. It’s tailored for non-technical individuals who just want to understand what’s changing, what they need to know, and how to stay in control of their careers.

The second is more niche: “Generative AI for Fund Administrators.” Designed for professionals in the fund administration sector, it covers everything from investor relations and compliance to board packs and minute writing. You’ll learn how to use AI practically to work faster, stay compliant, and reduce overwhelm. No coding. Just real-world examples and use cases.

Now, I get it. In Guernsey, we’re not always the first to jump on new tech — and that’s not a bad thing. We’re measured. We wait to see what actually works. But the time for waiting has passed. These tools are mature, accessible, and already making a difference in firms across the UK and Europe.

The real risk isn’t AI replacing us. It’s not understanding how others are already using it.

In a small, high-performing market like ours — where recruitment is tight and efficiency matters — even a 10% productivity gain can reshape a team’s output and value.

So if you’re curious but cautious, overwhelmed but open — these sessions are for you.

They’re about helping you stay valuable in a rapidly changing world. Because ultimately, AI isn’t here to replace professionals — it’s here to replace tasks. The professionals who thrive are the ones who delegate those tasks to AI and focus on what humans do best: thinking critically, building relationships, exercising judgment.

That’s the future of work. And I’d love to help you get there.
