Course Overview

Reviewing financial statements is a vital skill for anyone working in trust and company administration.

This course is designed to build confidence and capability in understanding and reviewing financial statements in a trust and corporate services context.

It is ideal for:

·         those who have come up through the ranks with strong trust experience but feel less confident when it comes to understanding the numbers side of things

·         those that have outsourced trust and company bookkeeping or financial statements production to an external provider and want to ensure that what is received is fit for purpose before signing off

·         non-accountants who need to review financial statements in a trust and corporate services context

·         qualified accountants seeking practical, real-world techniques to sharpen their review skills.

The course will demystify trust and company financial statements, helping delegates to understand their structure, purpose and key accounting principles.

Through practical exercises and real-world examples, delegates will build the confidence to review financial statements, spot inconsistencies and communicate findings effectively.

Course Content

During the course, delegates will explore:

  • What Financial Statements are, who uses them and what they’re designed to achieve
  • Legal requirements in regard to financial statements for

trusts and companies administered by Corporate Service Providers in Guernsey

  • The role of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and how they shape financial statement content
  • Key Accounting Principles and Theoretical Concepts and how to apply them effectively in delegates’ day-to-day roles
  • Practical, hands-on techniques for reviewing trust and company financial statements commercially

A group review exercise to consolidate learning through real-world application

    Vicky Le Poidevin FCA, Dip IoD regularly provides interactive and engaging training sessions to a wide range of financial services and commercial delegates. Vicky continually adapts her training style to suit the variety of delegates that attend her courses, and she actively enjoys running training for all levels of experience including parties at the beginning of their career, directors looking to continually enhance their skills and all parties in between looking to upskill or get ahead in their career.

    Vicky's training is under pinned by practical, real-life examples that leverage her 20 plus years' experience in the financial services sector. Vicky believes that delegates learn by doing, so she tries to include practical exercises into her courses to ensure the learning experience remains interesting, relevant, and engaging. As well as running numerous training courses, Vicky is a management consultant and has worked with numerous businesses on multiple projects, giving her a unique knowledge and experience to enrich her training. Vicky's generalist financial services experience also includes 10 plus years of auditing and accounting with a big four firm /regional firm and holding senior roles in both the Fund and Trust sector.
