Course Overview
This course will help you understand why corporate governance is a key driver in delivering the right outcomes for organisations, assisting in meeting corporate objectives. Regulators view corporate governance as a good indicator of a firm’s culture of compliance; good governance is likely to indicate good culture.
This online course will help you:
- Get to grips with the purpose, key success factors and risks associated with governance
- Understand the impact of good governance on the success of organisational strategy
- Access and design frameworks that serve your firm’s objectives and improve performance
- Evaluate the impact of the digital revolution on governance and future developments
Course Content
You will study this course in your own time and at your own pace, and you have up to 3 months to complete it.
You will learn:
- The function and purpose of the organisation
- The governance of regulated enterprise and the purpose of the Board of Directors
- The importance, impact and opportunity of organizational culture
- Conflict management in the organization
- Organisational structure, hierarchy and policy frameworks
- Communication strategy
- Internal control and influence power

Course Benefits
ICA Specialist Certificates are designed for anyone wanting focused yet accessible knowledge in specific areas of risk. They are suitable either for those working in the first and second lines of defence looking to certify existing specialist areas of knowledge, or for those looking to increase their professional agility by learning about new areas of risk.
Assessment:
At the end of the course you will be assessed by means of a one hour multiple choice exam that is taken online.
This qualification is awarded in association with Alliance Manchester Business School, the University of Manchester and the course fee includes a printable certificate once you have completed the course.

Prerequisites
The course is specifically designed to be detailed yet accessible. Prior subject matter knowledge will be useful, but is not essential.
To get the most from the course, a good standard of English is required.
In order to study any ICA qualification you need to be a member of the ICA. If you’re not currently a member of the ICA, student membership costing £75 will be added to your basket during the online checkout process.
The ICA has five different levels of individual membership. Whether you are just starting out in your career, already hold an ICA qualification or are an experienced practitioner, there is a level appropriate for you and this will be activated at the same time as your course commences.
