Course Overview

This fund bookkeeping course will suit new entrants into the fund sector and/or parties looking to further understand the bookkeeping and accounting transactions of a fund.

Course Content

  • Understanding a fund
  • Purpose of accounting
  • Understanding basic financial statements
  • Double entry
  • Capital versus revenue expenditure
  • Ledger accounting and “T” accounts
  • The trial balance
  • Preparation of simple fund accounts
  • Accounting for investments
  • Accruals and prepayments
  • Accounting for foreign exchange

Course Benefits

The objective of the fund bookkeeping course is to improve both knowledge and application of basic fund bookkeeping and accounting.

On completion of the course you should have a greater understanding of double entry and general accounting, be more confident and aware of any transactions that you may be asked to process and have gained awareness of basic fund financial statements. You will have produced a simple working set of financial statements.

  • Victoria Le Poidevin

    Vicky Le Poidevin is a fellow of the ICAEW with over 15 years’ experience in the finance sector. She trained with a big four firm and spent time in senior roles in both the Fund and Trust sector before joining Offshore in September 2016. Vicky’s previous training experience includes delivering courses for both qualified and unqualified staff at a big four firm, evening classes at a professional training agency and to industry professionals in her role at Offshore.
