Course Overview

This half day workshop seeks to utilise theatrical techniques and improvisation skills to generate trust and positive communication so that creative and innovative ideas and solutions can be explored.

Course Content

We will give you the tools to enable you to:

  • Engage in creative problem-solving
  • Communicate positively and energetically
  • Generate innovative ideas
  • Let go of fear and take risks

This workshop will provide delegates with the opportunity to:

  • Work in small, focused groups
  • Learn by doing
  • Work with pace, energy and intensity
  • Take risks in order to raise self-awareness
  • Acquire and implement a toolkit of techniques
  • Have fun whilst developing relevant work sector skills
  • Build Resilience

This course is a highly participatory structured around dynamic group games. Each game provides an opportunity to contribute practically and to discuss areas for learning as a group.

Attending this course will heighten your self-awareness of your verbal language, body language and attitudes. It will provide strategies to ensure a more progressive communication style.

Course Tutor

  • Oliver Bailey-Davies

    Oliver Bailey-Davies, Artistic Director, Tin Whistle

    Oliver trained at The Academy Drama school studying acting and the teachings of Viola Spolin, an American Improvisation legend where he received The Stage Newspaper scholarship. After graduating he co-founded ‘Show Don't Tell’ Theatre Company that produced work in London as well as touring the UK in a variety of No.1 shows. He went on to work for many well established Theatre in Education companies as well as 1-2-1 coaching in schools supporting young people with complex behavioural and emotional needs. He is a passionate and experienced actor-facilitator with a drive to create meaningful and impactful performance opportunities. Since living in Guernsey Oliver has worked as an Associate Lecturer in Performing Arts for the College of Further Education as well as being a project worker for the Hub where he established an LGBT+ youth group. He was also one of the original Improbables performers, an improvisation group directed by Sarah Hansmann-Rouxel. Oliver believes that the performing arts, particularly improvisation techniques, can transform people’s lives and provide them with the freedom to explore their true selves.
