Course Overview

This seminar will examine the current status of anti-discrimination law in Guernsey and developments on the horizon. Join members of Carey Olsen's Guernsey employment law team, Natasha Newell, Counsel, and Lois Madden, Senior Associate, for a discussion of the practical application of anti-discrimination law in the workplace today, and what employers should be thinking about with the future in mind.

Course Content

  • A refresher of the fundamentals of Guernsey’s current regime and an analysis of how it works in practice.
  • Key points of the draft anti-discrimination Ordinance, and how to prepare for its expected implementation in 2023.
  • Practical advice on steps organisations can take in anticipation of the new Ordinance coming into force.

Course Tutors

  • Lois Madden

    Lois is an senior associate in the dispute resolution and litigation team. Lois specialises in employment law and advises both local and international clients on the full spectrum of contentious and non-contentious aspects of employment law, along with data protection and regulatory issues.

  • Natasha Newell

    Natasha is a highly experienced litigator who has gained particular distinction in employment law related disputes. Natasha is STEP qualified, a member of the Association of Contentious Trust and Probate Specialists (ACTAPS) and the Chancery Bar Association. Natasha is an Advocate for the Royal Court of Guernsey and an English barrister.
