Course Overview

This course has been developed for those new to the Guernsey insurance industry or for those wishing to refresh their understanding of basic principles, and is suitable for staff working across all sectors of the insurance industry or associated professions. You will be provided with an introductory grounding in basic insurance principles, including the regulatory environment in Guernsey as well as an introduction to the key insurance disciplines, markets and products.

Course Benefits

In attending this course you will understand how insurance fits into the financial and regulatory landscape in both Guernsey and internationally. You will be able to demonstrate an understanding of the key principles and fundamentals of insurance as well as a range of insurance functions and products.

This course also provides an excellent grounding if you are considering moving on to take formal insurance qualifications. It is designed to provide a comprehensive insight for those taking the CII Certificate in Insurance and would provide an ideal revision session for those currently studying the certificate.

  • Ian Robinson

    Ian Robinson has recently retired as Chief Insurance Officer at Utmost following a career which saw him working in senior positions within the financial services industry for 30 years. Ian has been an active committee member of the Guernsey Association of Pension Providers for 10 years. He has a Diploma in Company Direction from the Institute of Directors and was a qualified member of the Society of Financial Advisers and member of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment until his retirement.
